The Evolution of Performance Management

As the 9th topic in the Top Employers HR Best Practices Survey, Compensation & Benefits focuses more on the actual employee conditions instead of processes and practices.

Performance Management is one of the fundamental HR processes. Traditionally the focus of Performance Management was mainly on assessing past performance. Today’s Performance Management has evolved into a much more continuous and forward-looking process, putting (future) performance improvement at the centre. The Performance Management approach should be fit-for-purpose for the various employee groups, it needs to provide clarity and direction towards goals (not only once or twice a year, but on an ongoing basis).  

As a Top Employer 2019 in South Africa, EY share their insights and best practice for Performance Management.
