Purpose and contribution to company strategy 

The purpose of this role is to ensure that the financial ledgers updated timely, accurately and completely representing the Companies financial positions and results and controls are mitigated.

Top Employers operates in line with tax regulations and local reporting requirements; local financial accountants, working together with local advisors where applicable address these compliance requirements.

You work together with the Regional Controllers in close cooperation with the Business Control team and Finance Operations team.

Regional Controllers work in a senior, self-organized, self-starting team of four. This team has spread/split the workload for 10-12 locations around the world and are able to support each, other, grow the quality of the work and ensure continuity.

Key responsibilities 

The responsibilities of the Regional Controller comprise of:

  • Ensuring timely monthly closing based on financial calendar
  • Current account reconciliation between group-companies
  • Ensuring an up to date Transfer pricing framework
  • Timely filings to the local tax authorities (CIT and VAT)
  • Coordinate and take responsibility for the banking and payment processes, including managing banking relationships and regularly reviewing banking arrangements to ensure efficiency and alignment with business needs
  • Account reconciliations between ledgers and sub-ledgers, between general ledger and the salary administration
  • Perform periodical balance sheet reviews and ensure the reconciliation of key accounts
  • Coordination and cooperation with the external financial advisors in the countries
  • Actively seek for opportunities and drive automation and AI solutions within the finance function
  • Manage and deliver external auditor requests
  • Act as an active sparring partner within the finance function
  • Participate in ad hoc projects with cross functional teams

Qualification Criteria

Regional Controllers have the following skills and competences:

  • Hands-on, result oriented/focused, flexible, being able to deliver
  • Takes ownership and responsibility
  • Solid accounting knowledge
  • Focus on improvements and automation
  • Pro-active and strong team player but not afraid to challenge
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and in writing (English, Dutch)
  • Residing in the Netherlands
  • Proven analytical skills
  • HBO education in finance
  • 3-5 years of working experience in a similar environment
  • Enjoys working in a dynamic environment
