About The South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited

The South African National Roads Agency SOC Ltd (SANRAL) was established in April 1998 as an independent statutory company in terms of the Companies Act. The agency is responsible for the management of SA’s national road system, including finance, planning, design and construction, provisioning, operating and maintaining national roads. As of 1 September 2016, SANRAL manages a national road network of 21 946km. At the request of the Minister of Transport, who is the sole shareholder of the agency, SANRAL also provides technical assistance to authorities in other countries. It has two primary sources of income, the toll and non-toll portfolios.
