The STIB keeps its eyes fixed on the future continuing its large-scale projects, such as the automation of the metro and its extension towards the north of the city. According to forecasts, Brussels' public transport capacity should increase by 22% by the end of 2017. This means the STIB must be able to carry out 415 million trips. This development will require massive investment. No less than 4.4 billion euros will be injected into various public transport projects by 2021. A challenge that the public transport company plans to meet by working closely with the Brussels-Capital Region, thus making STIB the preferred urban mobility solution in Brussels.
